For a few brief days, I got to return home for Christmas. This meant that I got to see my cat, Sheldon. Sheldon is a 2 and a half year old Long Haired Domestic cat, with a lot of sass. Unfortunately he’s got a broken tooth, and has to have an operation in January to rectify this. This meant he was unable to join us at the restaurant for Christmas dinner…

After a morning of opening presents, exchanging cards, and catching up with family, we drove to The Fox and Hound for our christmas dinner. Following on from the success of dinner here last year, it seemed like the obvious choice. Despite my uncle not being around for Christmas this year, we were sat at the same table, making last christmas seem as though it was yesterday.

After a starter of ham hock terrine served on brioche with a glass of cider, our plates were cleared and the main course arrived! A roast turkey dinner with all of the trimmings! What a fantastic meal it was! I didn’t run out of food, instead, there was so much food on my plate that I struggled to finish everything.

After dinner came dessert, possibly even better than the main course. I opted for the option of lemon tart with raspberry sorbet. I ignored the orange berry that came on the sorbet, but the lemon tart was polished off, with the raspberry sorbet not far behind.

We then returned home for a glass of Buck’s Fizz, and some quality time with the family. In the evening it was time to head home to see Sheldon, who was over the moon to have received “Fox For Cat”, complete with a tube of catnip, just for christmas. I’m looking forward to spending some more time with him before returning to uni.

Overall, I’d give the pub a ★★★★☆. I can certainly see a return on the cards next Christmas, as it almost feels like a family tradition now.
